Josh's Weekly Insights - April 22, 2026

“Camaraderie doesn’t happen by accident; developing a strong sense of trust, accountability, and togetherness around team goals requires intentional effort.”

-Don Yaeger

This week a lot of my conversations have circled back to the word intentionality. Especially in relation to goals. So often we set a goal, or our team has a goal, yet we don’t approach accomplishing the goal with intentionality.

Please note that I am not blaming any leaders for this issue when I point it out to them, but I do want them to be aware of it. I don’t blame them for it because it has happened to so many of us at one point or another in our careers.

Have you ever been running like crazy but didn’t take a moment to slow down and ask what you are accomplishing? It happens to so many leaders because we feel like we have to get everything on our plate done. And then more items pop up or more people need our attention, so we just keep adding more and more to our plate. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed or burnt out because we are so busy but lacking the fulfillment of true accomplishment.

My encouragement this week is to stop and look at your “to do list,” then select the items on that list that actually move the needle toward accomplishing your goals. Anything on the list that doesn’t help move the needle should either be delegated or eliminated. If it needs to be delegated, who on your team can handle it? If it needs to be eliminated, just cross it off the list and move on. One phrase I use in class routinely is: “Successful people don’t get the most stuff done, but they do get the most important stuff done.” If you want to be successful, don’t focus on doing more. Focus on more impactful work.

Now get out there and crush your week!
