“Stay positive and happy. Work hard and don’t give up hope. Be open to criticism and keep learning. Surround yourself with happy, warm and genuine people.”
-Tena Desae
Have you ever had people you love working with? As soon as you meet them, you feel like you have known them forever.
A concept I want to share is limbic resonance. This is the idea that our limbic system responds to the feelings of the people around us. So if we are positive, encouraging people to be around, other people will respond more positively to our presence than if we walk around with a negative attitude.
This is also why it is important to surround yourself with positive people. The more you spend time around people that lift you up, the more that becomes part of your system. You will tend to seek out and connect with like minded people faster because of “good vibes” or the feeling that you get when you are with them.
Something to think about this week is what kind of people do you want to be around? Think about that question and then ask a follow up question: “Am I that kind of person?” It there is a gap between the type of people you want to be around and the person you are now, take a moment to realign yourself. Work to establish the traits you want from others in yourself. The more you do that, the more you will find that you connect with similar people and feel that immediate sense of familiarity.
Your network will only ever be what you make it. Take the time to invest in yourself and connect with people that you want to be around and you will have a village of people there for you when you need it the most.
Now get out there and crush your week!
