“The older I get, the more I’m conscious of ways very small things can make a change in the world. Tiny little things, but the world is made up of tiny matters, isn’t it?”

-Sandra Cisneros

Today’s reminder is that little things make all the difference in the world. Many times, we think it is the grand gesture or success on a huge project that will help us feel accomplished. However, I often find that it is a small gesture that means the world to one person that moves the needle the most. When you see that one persons face light up, you feel good about what you accomplished.

I don’t usually find myself in position to change the world. I can’t make decisions at that scale (and I probably shouldn’t have that kind of power). However, I can make decisions that genuinely impact the people around me. I can choose to be good to those people and look for moments that really matter to them. Inviting someone to lunch, sharing a laugh with them, or showing up when they go through a difficult time. Those are all little things that we could do for someone else. And those are the little moments that matter the most because it reminds us that people care.

I believe that as a whole, people are genuinely good. It doesn’t mean we don’t do bad things or make bad choices, but that we typically want to create more good in the world. In order to do that, just ask yourself one question. Who could I do something good for today? It is a small step, but it can make a big difference for someone else.

Now get out there and crush your week!
